For millions of Texans, dedicated caregivers make a crucial difference in daily health and quality of life.
Too often, they don’t get the recognition they deserve.
These workers help an estimated 3.4 million Texans remain independent. Thanks to caregivers, much of this massive population can continue to live in their homes or the least restrictive environment possible. Every single day, millions of Texans are living their lives, achieving their goals, and continuing to be active parts of their communities due to the support caregivers provide.
That’s why Amerigroup Texas is sponsoring a series of appreciation events across the state to celebrate caregivers who have gone above and beyond, providing extraordinary care to the people they serve. We’re honoring dozens of caregivers in Arlington, Austin, Beaumont, El Paso, Houston, Lubbock, San Antonio, and Wichita Falls.
Caregivers help Texans with tasks that most of us take for granted, such as eating, bathing, dressing, and daily hygiene. They especially support seniors and people with physical disabilities, mental and behavioral health challenges, and complex medical conditions.
They also play a wide range of vital roles in our communities: serving as personal attendants, working in nursing facilities, providing day activity services, and helping their fellow Texans lead meaningful, healthy lives.
The recognition events spotlight these amazing caregivers and their stories of service, raising awareness about all they do for our communities.
We couldn’t do our work — fortifying communities and helping people to stay independent and actively engaged in their communities — without them.
