During the month of October, Amerigroup Georgia hosted Disability Mentoring Day at local colleges and universities. This was an opportunity for Amerigroup representatives to provide onsite resources to students that face barriers or challenges to employment and life after higher learning. The Marketing team worked in partnership with ADA Coordinators from Kennesaw State University, Augusta Technical College, Columbus State University, and dynamic community partners that were a resource for independent living such as: Walton Options, Department of Labor, Goodwill, Ready to Live Coaching, Behavioral Coaches, and others.
The participants were afforded an opportunity to get tips on interviewing skills, job behaviors, resume building, and job search preparation guidelines. Panel discussions allowed for additional questions as well as one on one time with the mentors.
Students enjoyed a healthy lunch, raffle prizes, Amerigroup giveaways, and sponsorships to use towards local programs and scholarships. One of the highlights includes Maria Henriquez, Marketing Director presenting The Academy of Inclusive Learning and Social Growth with a $2,000 sponsorship. Amerigroup Georgia empowered rising professionals to continue striving toward their goals after college by allowing their abilities to shine bright.
