Georgia Families 360⁰ Youth Advisory Council

Two young women talking

The Georgia Families 360° Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is comprised of a group of young people ages 16 – 24 across the state of Georgia who serve as advocates for youth in care. The YAC also provides input to the Georgia Families 360° program leadership and Steering Committee on programming related to transitional age youth and offers valuable youth perspectives and voice to the organization’s work on issues facing adolescents and young adults.

In 2022, the Council engaged with more than 2,000 youth in various events both statewide and nationally to advocate and bring attention to the needs of transitional age youth. These events included The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services Annual Performance Service Review (APSR) Joint Planning meetings (Q1 and Q3) and the Pregnancy Prevent and Parenting Support (PPPS) Learning and Action Network (LAN) committee and Suicide Prevention and Awareness month. With 2023 planning underway, the council will be rolling out an eight-part educational social media campaign (reels) which focuses on how to best navigate the Georgia Families 360° program, services and identifying more ways in which they can further advocate for their fellow foster care peers both locally and nationally.
